    What is Transgressive Fiction?

"Transgressive fiction is a genre of literature that focuses on characters who feel confined by the norms and expectations of society and who break free of those confines in unusual and/or illicit ways. Because they are rebelling against the basic norms of society, protagonists of transgressional fiction may seem mentally ill, anti-social, or nihilistic. The genre deals extensively with taboo subject matters such as drugs, sex, violence, incest, pedophilia, and crime. The genre of "transgressive fiction" was defined by Los Angeles Times literary critic Michael Silverblatt."

    What is Ennui Novelty Classics?

Inspired by the growing trend of publishers such as Penguin putting out vanity and designer editions of classic books, Ennui attempts once a day to re imagine classics transgressive books as starker dirtier thrift editions to reflect the murky quality within.

Do you have any plans for what books that you're going to do?

Currently I'm coming up with ideas for books by William S. Burroughs, Franz Kafka, Brett Easton Ellis, Charles Bukowski, & Anthony Burgess.

How long do you plan on doing this?

I'm currently doing this for a Graphic Communications class, and we've been assigned to do this for the next 30 days.  So at least that long, unless the mood strikes me to continue.

Any other / questions / comments / concerns please email me.

I'm currently looking for interesting fonts to feature on the cover of these books, if you are a font designer and wish to have one of your fonts featured on the cover of one of these books please let me know and I will give you full credit upon post.
